In early June, the pristine fairways of Roganstown Golf Club played host to a tournament that was about more than just birdies and bogeys—it was a showcase of incredible talent, resilience, and heart. The ISPS Handa Irish Open for Golfers with a Disability delivered a truly special event, culminating in a dominant, homegrown victory for one of Ireland’s finest adaptive golfers.

Dundalk’s own Brendan Lawlor arrived at the County Dublin venue in red-hot form, having won the G4D Open just three weeks prior. He brought that confidence with him, putting on a masterclass of precision and power that left the rest of the field in his wake.

Lawlor Lays Down a Marker

From the very first round, Lawlor made his intentions clear. He fired a stunning opening round of 68, which included two birdies and a spectacular eagle, to build a commanding seven-shot lead. While local Roganstown talents like Cian Arthurs and James McParland gave chase, Lawlor’s world-class form proved to be untouchable.

He followed up his blistering start with a composed final-round 71, cruising to a comfortable victory and securing his first-ever ISPS Handa Irish Open title. Speaking after his win, Lawlor was delighted with his performance, noting, “I was extremely good from tee to green.”

A Victory for Irish Adaptive Golf

Brendan Lawlor’s triumph was more than just a personal achievement; it was a powerful statement about the strength and depth of adaptive golf in Ireland. Having a home champion at one of the flagship events is a huge moment for the sport and an inspiration for the next generation of players.

The victory also carries significant prestige. While the focus of ISPS Handa events is on opportunity and representation, the win solidifies Lawlor’s status as one of the world’s top players and provides a perfect springboard as he heads to his next major goal: the US Adaptive Open.

The 2025 ISPS Handa Irish Open at Roganstown was a celebration of everything that is great about golf. It was a week of incredible skill, fierce determination, and a reminder that our Irish champions are ready to take on the world.
